No Kings
Did you catch the other day when Stephen Miller said that the orange president down south had plenary authority? I think it happened on CNN on the topic of the National Guard Deployment into Chicago. Now, I want this to be very clear. Fuck ICE and Fuck trump (yes I left his name uncapitalized on purpose).
Okay, Stephen Miller who is the deputy chief of staff claimed that the orange turd had ‘plenary authority’ which suggests that the president has assumed total power on a particular matter. Now for those who are uninitiated the US was built with specific checks and balances in our system to limit power. Why? Because the US started out as a rebellion to the king of England because were being taxed without representation. There are three branches of power, the executive, legislative and the judicial branches.

Moreover we have had a separation of the Fed and the CDC before this turd occupied the White House. Now? Mr. Turd face is dismantling the independence of these organizations. For example earlier this year the CDC was ordered to cease communications with the World Health Organization and other agencies. The CDC and the WHO have worked together since the 1940s to improve the health and lives of Americans and others all around the globe.

This work has eliminated smallpox, nearly eliminating polio, stopped the first SARS epidemic, contained Ebola and mitigated the Covid-19 pandemic, but now that line of communication has been cut off, and that is tyrannical. It’s like he doesn’t want to hear bad news so he just cuts the telephone line so that no one can call him. Kinda like an ostrich putting its head in the sand to hide from danger. “if I can’t see it, then it doesn’t exist.”
The muzzling of the CDC will no doubt have a trickle-down effect into other smaller American scientific companies. I’m so glad that now I live in a country that doesn’t want to sniff out science but supports it. For example, this article talks about how a small Charlottetown company with years of antibody research worked with Health Canada to create a new serology test in the early days of the pandemic. Apparently, a serology test looks for the IgG antibody which is developed in the late stages of infection and remains in the body afterward. This was super important because some PEI natives were worried that they may have been sick with the virus before it became widespread.
But moreover, for the current day, these smaller scientific companies are so important to utilize in the event of a mass public health crisis. It makes me proud to live in a country where science is used and integrated into public policy
