Repugnant

May 24, 2025

In a world of 24-hour news cycles there is so much sadness and terror happening. Which is nothing new since our great migration out of Africa as a species, but it’s hard to see so much corruption and greed being committed against large swaths of people.

So I’m starting this blog to talk about it, to help get all those yucky feelings out of my system and potentially spread the word about all the nonsense that is happening.

So, yes this will be political, and it will not be objective. There will be no consideration for large corporations, tycoons, dictators, or leaders. They shall all be scrutinized.

“The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men (people) to do nothing” – John Stuart Mill or maybe Edmund Burke

Ever since the orang turd took the presidential office for the second time it seems like him and his army of other turds are whipping along as fast as they can go to restructure the entire American system of checks and balances. Why do I care? Yes, I’m in Canada and will probably be for the rest of my life. And yes, I have the privilege of being a PR. But I was born and raised in that country, a country that feels so foreign and so familiar all at the same time.

A recent piece of news also hits super close to home, have you read about the Orange Turd’s administration trying to bar international students at Harvard? I hate that man but also how can anyone with a rational mind even think to work for him? Obviously, it’s the proximity to power and wealth, but still it’s repugnant. He and his cohort are blatantly doing harm and believing in their convictions so strongly they lie while looking at you dead in the eyes.

So why does this matter up here? Well, it matters to me because way back in the day when I was applying to grad school, I was accepted into Harvard’s Middle Eastern Studies program. I was also accepted into Chicago and the University of Toronto. Guess what I choose? UofT. Why? Mainly because of my potential advisor at UofT was a native speaker of Syriac, a language I wanted to study. At Harvard, the professor was not a native speaker. Here’s a life hack, if you’re ever interested in studying a foreign language, find someone who is a native speaker. It’s always better.

Back to America’s woes. I can’t sit here idly while that turd messes with higher education. So I’m writing about it. I’m trying to let more people know that he’s completely destroying American higher education. It almost could have affected me, and now as a parent here, the fact that he’s trying to bar international student makes me livid. Can you imagine having a child who is accepted into one of the top universities in the world and then can’t go because of the turd?

In conclusion, he is a turd. And he is doing turd stuff.
